Reuben Gardner of West Jordan Dies
WEST JORDAN, May 29--(Special)--Reuben Gardner, a resident of West Jordan for 60 years, died at his home here late Wednesday night after a lingering illness. He was born in Mill Creek ward, Utah, July 29, 1853, son of the late Bishop Archibald Gardner and Jane Park Gardner who were among the most prominent pioneers of Salt Lake Valley.
Mr. Gardner was a farmer by occupation. Quiet and retiring in disposition, he did not participate largely in public affairs but devoted most of his attention to his farm and home life. He was widely known and held in high esteem. He is survived by 12 brothers and 11 sisters.
Funeral services will be held in the West Jordan ward meeting house Sunday, June 1, at 1 p.m. with Bishop William J. Leak presiding. Interment will be in the Salt Lake city cemetery under the direction of C. I. Goff. The body may be viewed at the residence from 10 to 12:30 on the day of the services.
